The prize named after Mies van der Rohe is the most prestigious architectural award in Europe. It has been awarded for over 25 years for large-scale realised architectural projects the quality and cultural significance of which made them excelling examples of modern urban development. In 2013 a total of 37 European countries submitted 335 nominations. The exhibition of DAM features and presents the buildings given the prize last year as well as the finalists and 34 of the shortlisted project and the winners of the past 25 years. The buildings presented at the exhibition most obviously illustrate the commitment of the EU contemporary architectural prize to new solutions of technology and a way of thinking moving on towards a responsiveness to the environment. One of its goals is to offer an opportunity to the audience and civilian organisations to reach an in-depth understanding of civic design.<\/p>\n
