Detached House Budakeszi, German Design Award 2020<\/strong><\/p>\n

Attila Borsay designed a new detached house in Budakeszi on a steep and narrow site, surrounded b a chaotic residential environment, which was a great challenge. There used to be a dwelling house on the lot built back in the 1970s. Even thought the foundations and the main walls have been preserved, the new house has a floor area smaller by almost 100 square metres than the original structure, which is a clear sign of responsible thinking: one should build just as big as needed. The building nestles into the garden, but suggests closedness outwards: on the side overlooking the street ther is only the entrance and the garage. Its mass is a composition of the simplest cubes possible, which was seated by Borsay on the terrain to facilitate the best cooperation between the residential space and the garden. The white colour renders the house immaterial, whilst enhancing the playful interaction between the light and masses to the best effects.<\/p>\n
