Indoor Stables and Riding School, Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za<\/strong><\/p>\n

Built after designs by Dezs\u0151 Ekler, the stables and riding school in Ny\u00edregyh\u00e1za have an exterior showing a nice blend of traditional simplicity and modern freshness. Covered with a respectful gable-roof, the building features red fired-brick masonry walls evoking the characteristics of simple outbuildings. The framework of the row of windows embracing the building all around, the broken-line lateral walls and the sophisticated play of their shadows are all means of modernist architecture, which lends the house its character. Components defining the design of the external facade have been shaped by functional needs: completed with the skylight running along the entire length of the backbone of the roof, the continuous band of windows placed high up facilitate homogenous light conditions, and limit the view, which helps both the riders and the horses to concentrate. The riding course is covered with sand and framed by a row of slightly tilted vertical planks. In this homogenous and light space, the massive and powerful wooden frame stands made of untreated, layered and glued timber effortlessly join the \u201efloating\u201d white walls and roof expanses that surround them. The strut system of the house are also metaphorical architectural attributes of its function. Each framework stand, the massive timber struts widening upward and their connections fixed with screws present the moment when a horse moves its powerful hips bursting with energy.<\/p>\n
