Sports Hall, Szentendre<\/strong><\/p>\n

The original aim of the project was to design and construct a new sports hall for the Franciscan secondary school in Szentendre which is suited for sports, religious and ceremonial events of the school and can also be used as the venue for the public life, lectures, performances and concerts of the town. The main entrance opens on the southeastern facade, on one side of the hexagonal irregularly shaped building for people walking here on foot from the town centre where there is a small square-like zone. The foyer features a two-level gallery suited to house exhibitions and other minor events as well. The sports hall fitted with sports floor contains handball, volley-ball and basketball fields suited for competitions as well as a futsal field. On the shorter sides of the field there are open galleries from where spectators can follow events. The building of the sports hall is the shape of a double rectangle from the street with a natural slate-covered semi-saddle pitched roof which nestles into the roofs of the its contexts. The sports hall is a space turning inward, which opens towards the inner courtile \u2013 the sports field \u2013, with 3 large skylight glass partitions on the north-eastern facade, and roof skylight following their lines. The hall may be divided into several parts and is thus suited to contain two PE classes separated from each other.<\/p>\n
