The Town of Coal, Iron and Glass: Salg\u00f3tarj\u00e1n<\/strong><\/p>\n

As late as 1945, Salg\u00f3tarj\u00e1n was on the verge of becoming a town, buti t had an industry of national significance. The new system saw an enemy in the classic town with a middle-class background, which made a step 1950: as the embodiment of the new political trend, it was promoted into the county centre, and the next few decades saw the construction of several valuable building built in the Modernist style. As of today, the socialist industry and coal mining significant for the region formerly is already history, the factories have been pulled down, the railway lost its significance. This article is meant to draw attention to the less known values of the city: the architectural heritage of Modernism represented by buildings located here which more often than not are also highly precious.<\/p>\n
