The baroque stable building at the south-western end of Veszpr\u00e9m Castle, at the junction of the inner space of the bastion under the Fire Tower, the office building of the House of Arts and the courtyard of the Csik\u00e1sz Gallery in Simoga House, has been renewed and given a new function as part of the Veszpr\u00e9m-Balaton European Capital of Culture 2023 event series. It was an architectural honour to redesign the part of the building under the original half-slope roof into a multifunctional venue and to reconfigure the former flat-roofed part of the building to add a 70-seat auditorium suitable for cinema projection, with staff offices of appropriate size and quality. From the Simoga Garden, the focus is on the gate tower. This provides access to all the sites within the building, as well as the lower hanging garden. Behind the gate tower is a vertical structure imitating a slate castle, covered with solid and thinned boards. Underneath the planking is the promised future art cinema, the current auditorium, and on top of it a flexible terrace. The complex is surrounded by three independent gardens.<\/p>\n
