The Survival of Tradition in the Architecture of K\u00f3s’s Followers<\/strong>

The author of the study compares the contemporary concepts of vernacular, national and modern architecture in the context of K\u00e1roly K\u00f3s’ architecture, the direction of \u201eprogress\u201d as formulated by K\u00f3s and its examples embodied in plans and buildings, viewing contemporary Scandinavian architecture as a source of inspiration present in them. In the following, the oeuvre of Imre Makovecz, who continued to live on K\u00f3s’s ideas and principles, and the work of the architects who formed the K\u00e1roly K\u00f3s Association, which he founded, are used to illustrate how K\u00f3s’s ideas have continued to live til the present, highlighting the works of two artists, Tibor Heil and Endre Sz\u0171cs. The author of this paper does not see a contradiction between vernacular, national and modern architecture, but a special relationship that is still valid today.<\/p>\n
