The colorful and fairly varied natural features of the Balaton Uplands make this region exceptionally valuable. There are stunningly beautiful rock formations, stone fields, versatile geological formations, and huge spherical cup-shaped formations suitable for birdwatching everywhere. Architects D\u00e9nes Fajcs\u00e1k and G\u00e1bor F\u00e1bi\u00e1n sought to capture this experience when they undertook the renovation project of an old, dilapidated building located in Badacsonytomaj. During the restoration stage, they focused on preserving and maintaining the remaining values. They did not necessarily strive to restore the building to its former condition, but rather to find a place for traditional values besides changed needs, requirements and functions. They have preserved the dimensions, fa\u00e7ade elements, and natural stone walls of the existing cellar and farm building. The necessary functions were designed and arranged within the existing contours, taking advantage of the garden connection between the two separate structures. The only deviation from this consistency was in the case of the southern gable and roof, where structural problems were solved with a slightly steeper roof pitch than usual and a glazed gable. As a result of the renovation, the guest house in Badacsonytomaj presents architecture as a reality that attaches particular importance to the construction site and local traditions as well.<\/p>\n
