Renovation of the Former T\u00e1tika Restaurant, Badacsony<\/strong>

After several years of delays, the renovated former T\u00e1tika restaurant has opened again in Badacsony. Standing on the shore of Lake Balaton, the building was completed in 1962 after designs by Ferenc Callmeyer. It has now been restored to its original architectural concept in terms of its external appearance. Following the renovation, the ground floor now houses the BAHART ticket office, information point, luggage storage, and a gift shop, while the upper floor has been transformed into a versatile conference space. The building is an iconic Hungarian example of modernism, which flourished in the second half of the 20th century. It embodies the search for a new direction following the era of socialist realism in architecture, the reharmonization of pre-war modern forms, and the characteristic combination of local materials and vernacular characters. The space renovated in parallel with the building forms a unified whole with the surrounding buildings and bears witness to the fundamental spirit of the efforts made back in the 1960s to develop the area around the port. The block of T\u00e1tika loated at the end of the pier is sculptural, geometric, and yet light, also serves as a gate motif. Its thoughtful and meticulous renovation is important in terms of shaping attitudes towards preserving the values of modern buildings constructed in the latter half of the 20th century.<\/p>\n
