He did not formulate too many theories about the work and tasks of a chief architect, only the most important ones: every settlement should have an architect in charge, a person with a degree in architecture who can be consulted if the local authority, the leadership or residents of the settlement want to build something new, and who deals with the arrangement of public spaces, shop signs, the landscape of the outskirts, streetscape renovations, the protection of local architectural heritage, and many other similar issues. In his works as chief architect, Makovecz did not separate the roles of an architect, an urban planner, and a chief architect; he did not divide our profession into a number of branches, but considered all of these tasks to be the responsibility and duty of the architect.
