Its scope and quality make it possible to present Dutch drawing art in all of its thematic, technical and stylistic diversity. A top-class selection of 170 works is presented in the Albertina. This new series will be continued this year. Anoine Roegiers already dealt with the great masters of Flemish painting and draughtsmanship in his previous works. Since 2011, he has been working on the cycle The Seven Deadly Sins, based on the drawings of the same title by Pieter Bruegel the Elder from 1559. Antoine Roegiers approaches these scenes as if they were a film in which all loactions and plots have been outlined. He consequently reproduces the individual sceneries and characters in ink, using them as models for his video animation. Rogiers&#8217; installation assigns to each of the deadly sins a screen of its own. The happenings described or merely adumbrated in the drawings are contributed in the animation, which extrapolates the narration and sets the scenes in motion. Antoine Roegiers virtually zooms into the drawings, directing our attention to individual episodes and details.
