A real gem of wineries owned by Hungarians in the Hegyalja region, Holdv\u00f6lgy in M\u00e1d designed by P\u00e9ter Bord\u00e1s is to be completed to its tiniest details by next March. Bord Architects Studio integrated local building materials and revived economical architectural traditions with due attention to the technologically precisely regulated spaces of wine-making. Erected on a hillside, this complex is a result of the blend of several existing sites: the upper new wing replaces an old wine complex whilst the \u201eold house\u201d (office and store-house) embraces former walls and forms. This latter building is well visible from a tiny street of the hillside, whilst the new parts are hiding. Rows of stones piled up appear from afar, whereas the bands of high-tech walls running beneath them as well as the entrances and the windows only show on closer inspection. The office section of the old building has a playful configuration of windows suggesting that the architect ambitioned to respect traditions by re-writing the present-day solutions of this story as opposed to conservation. The majority of the restored branches of the cellar system are meant to serve the projected tourism, including a tour of the site, drinking and tippling as well as getting to know the soul of grapes grown here. The interactive installation commissioned for the underground hall and realized by a group of artists called Sz\u00f6vets\u00e9g \u201939 M\u0171v\u00e9szeti B\u00e1zis (Association \u201939 Artistic Basis) is also meant to make a visit here an experience.<\/p>\n
