Mill-Pond Bath Hotel
Architect: Miklós Marosi
Text: Edit Pálinkás
The designing of the bath hotel meant to be constructed on the site of the former Népfürdő (Public Bath) built in the 1800s in Frankel Leó Street was preceded by thorough research work covering several professional fields. This project keeps influencing the execution of the building even now. Underneath there is the cave named after János Molnár with thermal waters: it was found recently as a unique phenomenon in Central Europe and is yet to be explored. The design following the original one was theoretically approved already in 2006 and involves the reconstruction of the „Turkish cupola” fragment rated as a protected one. The block of the bath hotel housing 13 spare rooms and three apartments is erected in the relatively narrow remaining area adjusted to the street with a development in unbroken rows. It is completed by new balneological functions and modern building engineering.
