Linz 09 European Capital of Culture
Who are the people the event of the city’s European Capital of Culture is meant for? This question is unavoidable – also here. The city does not represent with its past, as the cultural and architectural heritage of Linz cannot rival with that of several other sites throughout Austria. There are tourists, but not in a strikingly large number, the majority of them being daytrippers on organized excursions from schools or young ones spending their vacation here. I do not know to what extent the Austrians’ habit of spending their holidays in exotic countries has swept away domestic tourism, but it is on the upswing now here just like it was a couple of years ago in Graz. Austrians and citydwellers of Linz guarantee the teeming life of the city and secure their own careers.
