Sound Museum

Tilos („Prohibited”) Rádió, the first free civilian radio in Hungary, started broadcasting on August 21st, 1991. Thanks to the community of the radio, its audience and its ever widening social recognition, it has become an integral part of cultural life in Budapest as after an adventurous period at the very beginning it had turned into a tolerated and supported one after being prohibited. It is now operating on a nonprofit base with a staff of approximately 200 people working as volunteers. The diploma work focuses on Tilos Rádió which could now be moving on to work in a new building built especially for their purposes as their final home, also housing the sound museum.
