The terminal of the underground line has actually moved Őrmező closer to the centre by connecting the railway, coach service routes and metropolitan public transport. However, for people commuting by car still missed the convenient „park+ride” facilities, a city gate functionally and theoretically operating, whereby one can change over to a downtown public transport route after driving there. This gap is now filled by the recently opened P+R car park as well as a small pavilion structure opening up bus stops, railway platforms and subways connecting underground tunnels. It is far from being a rewarding task to design such a small and yet highly complex building amongst the large-scale developments with enormous floor areas covering as many as several tens of thousands square metres. The primary goal was to achieve practicality combined with simplicity, for which the demilition of railway lines, walls and public utility works as well as public tendering was a must. In the end, the project created a tiny work of architecture which functions much like a double bass in an orchestra: it is almost invisible, but if it steps out of rhythm, it can spoil the entire tune.
