The reconstruction of MOME Campus is a mega-project, reaching a new stage right now: from September on, they are going to start working on the recently opened Media and Studio House. The Workshop house, which is the first building of the campus built in the north-eastern tip of the park, is already in use, the originally designed two other structures have been united into one meanwhile, but the basic principle of their three cubes (workshop, studio, media house) are still recognizable in the finished building. The dark brown „wrinkled” fabric, the brick masonry cladding gives us the impression as if the strict geometry of the two buildings were wrapped in leather binding. The two buildings and the space in-between them make up the Technology Park now. Their belongingness is expressed by their facework and cube-like mass formation just like the huge openings of the ground-floor and the sequence of the vertical windows of the upper floor and the long light-palette concrete bands of the projecting roofs. MOME 2 is not only much longer, but is also distinguished by the net configuration of the openings, the large glass brick squares of the skylights and the extensive solid wall surfaces (partly suited to host vegetation). The multifunctional building is characterized by masterly structuredness. Its seeming simplicity conceals complexity, quasi-symmetries and counterpoints.
