The road named Attila út is also the eastern border of Vérmező in the Buda site of the capital city. Residential buildings located here today are typically 4-6 storey buildings constructed in the 20th century to replace former single-storey developments of the site. This house was designed in the 1930s by Dénes Györgyi as an extension of a former transformator from 1910. Although it was not a protected historic building, it had a stroke of luck: its new owner and architects tried to „preserve it even if by ceasing it”, to the extent it was possible. The existing mass was salvaged with all its delicately articulated exterior facades, whilst the interior was converted to suit the new functions so that the former taste should also be visible.
The new design includes communal functions on the lower storeys – including a baker’s shop, a restaurant and the communal rooms of Attila99loft apartment hotel. The upper floors contain a total of 16 loft-type luxury apartments, as well as penthouses with roof-decks at the top. The gentle power of original forms and materials permeate the house made complete with contemporary attitude and accessories.
