The castle in Tura was built by Vilmos Schossberger in 1873, originally as a summer resort. Its designer was Miklós Ybl, one of the most significant Hungarian architects, famous for such projects as the Opera House, the Castle Gardens Bazaar and the Basilica, all in Budapest. This free-standing, single-storey building with a well-articulated floor-plan represented the taste of late eclecticism matched with the highest standards of technology then. In 2016 Foster Centre made the scientific documentation of the architectural history of the castle, so design work and then construction could be started. As a result now, in 2020 we can go on a tour of the completely renewed castle.
