An Open Gate

The new reception building of Graphisoft Park represents the entirety of the complex, not with its formal attractive appearance, but by mediating deeper thoughts. All this is accomplished with extraordinarily light and easy gestures and cheerful relaxed attitude with the openness of immediate reception. In this sense an iconic building was born here, which is a real hit because of its function: in its appearance and spectacle, it managed to present as a unique structure which in turn also reinforces its central role. The source of its lightness is a consequential formula-like organisation, an extraordinarily slender metal-structure shell – which almost impresses us as a static bravado in the background –, which is matched by a degree of extremely heightened transparency. In the functional sense, the reception building does not only function as an open gateway, even though the cafe placed at the front primarily conveys this message. The house also functions as an office block to be rented, the horizontal plans of the storeys flexibly translate these requirements. Besides, the management of the park is also housed here: maintenance, operation, investments, the execution of further constructions as well as the renting of the existing office venues. Thus, it also fulfills a function reaching beyond its basic ones: it mayas well turn into a kind of symbol, as a lightweight glass pavilion, which has the potentials to represent the overall architectural world of the whole complex.
