The Plečnik House, the home of architect Jože Plečnik located in the leafy Trnovo borough, reopened in September 2015 after two years of renovation. The renovation of the House Plečnik is a small but complex work. It is dealing with two parts: the subtle renovation of the architect’s home which is preserved as it was from 1957, and the establishment of the new entrance area in front of it, which opens the former private spaces to the public, to the visitors of the museum. Thanks to the renovation, spaces for a new permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions have been gained and a new study centre for the investigation of Plečnik’s heritage has been established. In the course of the renovation, the Museum & Galleries of Ljubljana took a complete inventory of the heritage of Plečnik’s collection and digitised Plečnik’s original plans. Visitors to the house now get a clear view into the architect’s privacy, everyone who visits the Plečnik House will understand his phenomenon. The exhibition is cleverly designed throughout the rooms available and presents, in a clear and understandable fashion, all of the most important stopovers of the architect’s life.
