As a result of the decree of the German parliament in 2007 the preparatory works of the Humboldt-Forum project have started. After Paris and Warsaw the exhibition promoting the investment was hosted by Budapest. Standing in downtown Berlin, the legendary Schloss had been the palace of prince-electors, kings and emperors for more than 500 years. After it was set on fire during World War II the interlude of the „socialist passing glora kingdom” started. The change of the political system had the „popular democratic” palace pulled down. By 2019 a new complex evoking the past was constructed here: named after the Humboldt brothers it is a huge forum of university, culture and museum with the help of which „the German capital is to be made into a place open to the dialogues of the civilizations of the world”. The international design tender published in 2008 was won by Fanco Stella from Vicenza who in his designs did not only wish to evoke the past by a suitable mass formation but also to reconstruct three original elevations.
