Built on the shore of the Inner Lake in Tihany, the Lavender House possessed by the Balaton National Park was designed by József Koller. Constructed on the eastern neglected side of a lot formerly possessed by the local government, the structure is partly hidden underground, and nestles into its environment harmoniously. Used since 2011, it functions primarily as a reception, educational and exhibiting space especially for the tourists venturing to visit the peninsula and interested in the nature and history of the location offering data found useful and a rest area. Consisting of two parallel longitudinal blocks, the structure is homogeneous in its exterior appearance. With its cortile bathed in light it also fulfils the functions of museum pedagogy.
