Budapest Főváros XV. kerület Rákospalota-Pestújhely-Újpalota Önkormányzata nyílt, országos pályázatot ír ki az 1956-os forradalom és szabadságharc emlékére emlékmű tervezésére és megvalósítására. Sikeres pályázat esetén a mű felavatása 2012. október 23-án ünnepi rendezvény keretében történik. Az emlékmű helyszíne: Budapest, XV. kerület, Széchenyi tér.

Kós Károly (1919-1996), az azonos nevű író, építész, grafikus, könyves tudós fia a 20 század második felének meghatározó jelentőségű erdélyi magyar néprajzkutatója, muzeológusa, akinek munkássága az anyagi kultúra és társadalomnéprajz szinte minden területére kiterjedt. Nagy jövőt jósoltak neki a képzőművészet területén.
