DAM Prize for Architecture 2009
Deutsches Architekturmuseum, Frankfurt, 13. 11. 2009. – 17. 01. 2010.
Since 1980 the Annual brought out by the Deutsches Architekturmuseum assesses the best buildings of the respective year, and has long established itself as an indispensable reference work and a guide of the current German architecture scene. However, two new aspects should be mentioned: all the buildings presented in the Annual are also presented in an exhibition, and the outstanding achievement of one architect is being recognized through the bestowal of the “DAM Prize for Architecture in Germany“. The Deutsches Architekturmuseum is bestowing this award for the third time on 13 November 2009; the media conference will take place on 13 November 5 p.m.
This year the “DAM Prize for Architecture in Germany“ goes to Trumpf staff canteen in Ditzingen by Barkow Leibinger Architects , which stands out for its striking roof support construction (Structure: Werner Sobek, Stuttgart) inspired by the cell structure of leaves.
Former winners were Gedenkstätte Hinzert (Wandel Hoefer Lorch und Hirsch, 2007) and Kolumba Museum, Cologne (Peter Zumthor, 2008).
