Brainstorming Competition, 2009

The goal of this competiton is to design the memorial site, salvage decaying archeological relics and present the site in a way matching its significance, All this would be in the language of architecture, landscape gardening and fine arts, with special regard to the historical relevance of the location. Situated in the heart of Székesfehérvár, Romkert (a garden with ruins) appears as a wound now. Attempts were made to adjust the building with a due outward appearance into its man-made environment via structures such as those designed by Lux (mausoleum, gateway, ossarium etc.) in 1938 and later via those by Oltay (the substructure of Pipo Ozorai’s Tower, ramp, bridge, etc,). Those applicants have entered successfully the competition who reassessed these solutions in the interest of the ultimate design of the national memorial site.
