A Modular Residential Tower
The Construction System by Schömer
The majority of the Earth’s population today lives among inadequate housing conditions. There is a huge demand for flats, but it is also an important priority apply construction methods that minimize the environmental load and prefer affordable architectural solutions instead of the formerly used costly and wasteful ones. Hereby we are presenting an innovation by Ervin Schömer, a Hungarian-born architect living in Sweden, who patented this method in Germany in 1970. In Sweden the very same system enjoys formal protection. The apropos of this is the 35-storey twin tower named Norra Tornen built in Stockholm in 2018, which was awarded the 1st prize of the International Highrise Award. The structure of this dual residential tower block was realized partly by integrating the method worked out by Schömer.
