Spontaneous Architecture in Tirana

The urban architecture of the capital city of Albania is featured by spontaneous development, in various and versatile aspects. In my article below I present three tendencies of its evolution of architecture and urbanism, which is based on a dialogue between informal and formal architecture. The survey focuses on the development of the city’s historic road system, the liberation of its public domains, as well as phenomenon associated with suburbia built on the field possessed by the poor moving in here from the villages.
