Camra, Miskolc, University Campus
Design: Anna Fabricius, Tibor Gyenis
The project named Camera Obscura by Anna Fabricius and Tibor Gyenis has been realized within the Art-Universitas Programme at the University of Miskolc. Set in a unique campus of Hungary, Camra has been built slightly off-centre to function both as a building and an optical device. Also involved in the project were the two photos of university students based on collaborational situations now gracing the glass facade of the main entrance of the main building. The Camra itself is enveloped in scale-like pressed aluminium sheets organized as a series of astronomical ellipses. The closed structure and its surroundings have evolved into an emblematic site of the university by now. The building resembles a slow-motion mobile sculpture as it is crowned by a revolving ligh-collecting monitor-eye rising out like a periscope.
