Prelude to the Year of Miklós Ybl

The 200th anniversary of Miklós Ybl’s birth and the commemoration year devoted to him is the apropos for us to remember the influences and afterlife of his achievements by publishing a series of excerpts with reference to Henszlmann, F. A. Stüler, Frigyes Feszl, Vilmos Zsolnay and Alajos Hauszmann up until contemporary designs for the present-day Castle District. As well as how his memory is fostered by posterity, from Ervin Ybl to József Sisa. Finally, we are publishing Ybl’s answer he gave to his petty accountability procedure to illustrate both his modesty and everyday life as an architect.
