The Conference of the Department of Urbanistics, October 25th, 2012
Text: Bálint Botzheim
In the opening lecture of the conference Melinda Benkő gave an insight into the activities of the Dept. of Urbanistics at the Budapest Technical University. György Alföldi informed about a book recently published by the department in his lecture titled Budapest 2050: what a city should not be like in 2050? An important issue of the future is whether the physical fabric of cities can be preserved, and if not, into what directions it is going to evolve as a result of social and economic impacts. In his lecture titled Budapest, the Capital of the Danube Sándor Pálfy presented his vision of urban architecture. The summary of the conference is that when analyzing the multitudes of questions concerning the highly complex fabric of Budapest, researchers would come to realizations, if not answers.
