Danube Museum and Conference Centre, Komárom
Concept: Csémy Olivér, Csémy Krisztián
The tip of Erzsébet island in Komárom is located in a site outstanding for both of the neighbouring countries, Hungary and the Slovak Republic. The design of the Danube Museum and Conference Centre is a response to this unique position.
The centre unique along the Danube banks takes advantage of the potentials of the site. The narrow elongated ribbon-like building is a work of contemporary architeture with its dynamic, iconic form which has the capacity to predominantly influence its environment besides the rich variety of architectural and historic monuments in Komárom. As the site is along the River Danube separating the two countries, designers believe it is a common interest even on state level to find a genuinely unique solution here.
