György Fekete, who passed away in April 2020, was an interior architect and designer as well as a culture politician was a key figure. as he defined himself: a „culture tactician”. It would be a difficult task to make a complete list of all the state-managed institutions the founding of which he had been around, starting with the Cultural Fund to professional associations to the reorganizing of the contents of secondary and higher education. He revived the prestigious time-honoured professional periodical titled Hungarian Applied Arts. He was the founder and first chairman of the national Cultural Fund too. He was also active in his role as the chairman of the Hungarian Arts Academy, which transformed into a public body. During his management, the Academy evolved to its entirety. Besides several professional recognitions, he was also awarded the title of Artist of the Nation.
