Galvani Bridge, Budapest
Results of the new Danube Bridge design contest
In the summer of 2017 the government and the Municipalilty of Budapest jointly initiated an international invitational design contest for concepts of the new Danube bridge meant to connect the southern part of Buda with Csepel Island. A total of 17 designs have been submitted for the tender. The jury assessed it positively: the fine overall archtectural impression of the bridge and its associated parts, the good proportions, its integrity into the cityscape and harmonization with the other brudges of Budapest, the spatial experience for those using the bridge, the visual connection with the city itself, its novelty, the small load on the environment, the building materials made with low level of energy resources. Hereby we are presenting the projects awarded by the committee.
