Budaprés in Etyek has been making ciders since 2017, and the care with which they handle this genre is evident even in the tiniest details. The decision to have BORD Architects design their building is due to the design firm’s experience in wineries. The initial volume of the building evokes a reduced formal image of barrels stowed in rows in the cellars. An interesting dichotomy divides the building along the horizon. Looking up from the reinforced concrete lintel that connects the walls of the space along the horizon, we can see the wooden interior, the golden matrix, the bubbles and the warmth of the sunset that closes the voluntary cooperation of harvesters harvest in the Indian summer. From this line downwards, however, the geometry, which is the same as the floor and spans the levels, is reinterpreted by the materials, surfaces and spaces of the modern world of winemaking. The designers not only openly assume, but also explicitly build the main façade of the building on this duality between the traditional and the modern. The workshops, hidden underground, trace the cider-making process through a linear arrangement of spaces and a walkway that passes them by.
