Interior renovation of the Reformed Church, Alsózsolca

Four years ago, the Reformed Congregation of Alsózsolca invited Emese Bunyik, an interior architect, to design the renovation of their church. The financial possibilities offered a framework for the client and the designer to try to make the most of the building using simple touches: to refresh rather than to redecorate, to take the earthy atmosphere out of the yellow-brown palette, to take the antique touch out of the textiles, to make it more sublime. The Reformed church, which was built in the Baroque and Gothic styles, with its mixed masonry walls, its well-divided interior spaces and its noble and simple interior decoration, all of which comes to create harmonious rhythm, was well endowed. It has been restored to its modern beauty, while preserving its original values. Its cleaned-up spaciousness serves the traditionally caring community and its renewed spirituality.
