    New Health Centre, Hajdúböszörmény

A new medical centre has been built in Hajdúböszörmény, which evokes the town’s past and its structural characteristics in both its use of materials and architectural design applying contemporary means. The so-called two-belt structure, created for defence reasons in the past, was geometrically the most perfect of the Hajdú settlements and still exists today, although over time the densification within the inner ring has continued beyond its boundaries. The health centre building, which will be completed in 2023, contains shops on the ground floor, surgeries upstairs and a conference room on the top floor. The mass formation and brick ornamentation, in keeping with the local architectural character of the area, pays homage to the half-millennium of the architectural past of the Hajdúság region.
The graphic character of the brick volume and the intended lack of openings from the street, especially from the eastern side, lend the building a castle-like appearance. The lack of openings here was a smart architectural decision: rooms oriented in this direction, which still receive enough light through the normal openings behind the open brickwork, even increase the intimacy of the corridor and waiting zones. Etched into the brick is the city map, a layer-upon-layer of texture for the discerning eye. The metal structures, metal shutters, door grilles, signs, roofs are highly sophisticated, uniformly dark in palette, creating a harmony of colours composed with brick architecture.
