    Balatonfüred Congress Centre

On the site of the former market of Balatonfüred, the local government, which is seriously concerned with the development of the town, has had a Congress Centre built suited for a variety of events. The location is an ideal one, being close to the harbour, the street connecting the coastal sailing clubs, the famous coastal promenade and the railway and bus stations. The planning area is bordered on the east by a gently sloping road towards the lake and on the north-west by a large curved, sloping bend in the main road, with a significant difference in level between the two site boundaries, which had previously been green zones. The architectural concept has sought to retain the original hillside character of the area. The peripteral main entrance of the Congress Centre faces the urban square in the south-east corner, the two-storey high circular pillars and the large glass-walled façade provide an elegant opening to the building and an inviting view into the spacious lobby and the exhibition space on the upper floor that overlooks it. From this new public space, the whole building appears almost transparent, and seems to be rather block-like when viewed from from the main road. Its monolithic exterior is enhanced by the fact that all the necessary functions are located within the building block. The structure itself is covered with a green roof and a solar roof, which slope almost in the same way as the terrain beneath. It is multifunctional and therefore consists essentially of rationally arranged, divisible large spaces that can flexibly accommodate events, conferences, lectures, conferences, seminars, conferences, congresses, etc. The building won an international architectural award at the BigSEE Architecture 2024 in Slovenia.
