The location is directly on the shore of Lake Balaton, with an exceptional panorama, surrounded by a grove and reeds by the lake. Coming from the promenade, you are greeted by the sight of a “house-like house” of fine proportions and scale. The archetypal building mass with a gable roof is characterized by a simple use of materials: the gray metal roof and larch wood cladding reveal a rational, no frills concept. Viewed from here, the building turns its back on us, but its friendly nature can still be felt. The facade facing the lake is the exact opposite of this. On the side of the house, along its entire length, there is a porch-like annex, the end of which is closed by rows of vertical wooden slats. Here, the mass of the building already suggests an infinite openness towards the water: the ground floor walls are broken by large glass surfaces, the roof windows “flow” down the vertical knee walls and follow the fold of the metal roofing on the porch. The interior is also characterized by a puritan use of materials and only a few colors. This coastal house is a simple hut in its own way, a worthy successor to the rudimentary, vernacular huts of the former fishermen. The basic essence of sensibly sensitive, contemporary architectural behavior is thus the same as the idealism of its predecessors: filled with modest spirit, it responds to the needs of its own age.
