The Miniaturized World
II. International Model Festival, Art Gallery, November 13th-16th, 2010
Text: Eszter Götz
This year the festival was moved into the exhibition halls of the Art Gallery and the selection has turned out to be accordingly well-groomed. Seventy models from twenty countries have arrived here, the majority of which are spectacular ones made professionally and hardly resembling those submitted in 2008 when the wide variety ranged from the simplest materials to professional building models. Now almost every item represented the proportions and the contextual spatial configurations of the projected house accurately and understandably for non-professionals. With digital designing becoming widespread the evolution of architectural thought tends to break away more and more from the material. Simultaneously with this procedure and also resulting from it the role of building models is being upgraded: they do not only complement three-dimensional archutectural visual designs but also translate the concept into reality.
