Masters of European Secession
Barcelona – Brussels – Budapest
Budapest, 23. 03. – 30. 04. 2011.
Through the travelling photo exhibition “Masters of European Secession – Barcelona – Brussels – Budapest”, the secession goes around the three B-cities, from January. In each city, 50 large, weather-resistant panels will be displayed on a special ‘venue’: on the fence of a building of some special importance. The exhibition gives a complex picture of the Secessionist architecture of the three cities: it displays a map of each city, marked with spots for the buildings, photos of the bulidings and the biographies of the architects.
Hungarian Secessionist architecture is to a large extent equal with Ödön Lechner (1845-1914) and his works. He had quite a unique approach within the style, as his finest example, the impressive building of the Museum of Applied Arts shows. The Hungarian National Museum fence hosts the three cities’ display in Budapest from 18 March to 30 April.
