Veszprém is referred to as the town of parks and gardens. The formerly ornate parks and gardens for pedestrians are, however, deteriorated from an architectural and botanical aspect. The reconstruction of some of the structures and their development by linking them was realized in 2009-2010 within the framework of a landscaping and garden rehabilitating project sponsored by the EU. The development affected an area of 12 hectares along a stretch of 2,3 kilometes defined by the stream Séd. Now there is a walkway for pedestrians along the bank of the winding stream offering natural and architectual spectacles, the precious historical relics, the excellently equipped playgrounds and paths suited for bikers, the areas for relaxation stripped of shadiness guarantee the conditions for active recreation for childen and adults alike.
