The House of the Year competition has been held for 40 years now with the aim of identifying and promoting to professionals and the general public high-quality architectural works that are considered exemplary not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also from an environmental and economic perspective. Of the 23 family homes and 3 apartment buildings submitted in total to the competition, the house in Somogytúr, designed by Norbert Villányi and Rozália V. Marton, won the grand prize in the category of residential buildings. The professional jury awarded the main prize in the public building category to the renovated „minor castle” in Keszthely, designed by György Kisberzsenyi-Nagy, for its exemplary adaptive reuse of a historic building as a Roman Catholic kindergarten. The winner of the public vote in the family homes category was the architectural team led by Péter Tóth for the renovation of a detached family house in Budapest.
