DesignEuropa Awards 2016
The DesignEuropa Awards celebrate excellence in design and design management among Registered Community Design (RCD) holders, whether they are individual right holders, small businesses or large enterprises.
The IDO bench is one of the finalists in the Small and Emerging Companies Award designed by Anna Szőnyi, Hungarian designer.
Designed as a public seating installation, the IDO bench is composed of just two elements – wood and steel. The timber comes from sustainably managed forests, processed to Accoya wood, and the design of the product allows the individual pieces to be moved like a fan to create a variety of seating positions.
The jury highlighted the product’s adaptability and dynamic action, along with its ability to be scaled to a variety of locations and to be adapted to a variety of behaviours and human interactions.
Anna Szőnyi studied architecture, fine art and furniture design in Budapest. Since graduating, she has spent the past seven years in the United Arab Emirates, working as an architect and design manager.
The IDO bench is manufactured by French urban furniture maker Aubrilam, and is featured in its urban furniture portfolio. The IDO represents a product taken from the drawing board to the market by a young designer with the protection of the Registered Community Design.
