At the very beginning of the design stage, the elementary school and the music school had been two independent and separate units. Later on, due to their joint auxiliary and complementary functions they were given their own entrances so that they could be used independently on their own. The entrance to the music school is accessible from the car park via an obstacle-free route. Pedestrians arriving from the direction of the primary school take the promenade that cuts straight through the zone in front of the building: the shift on the facework also focusses attention on this condition. The other entrance is used temporarily only. The auditorium rises above the mirror of the lake and opens up eastward, which in turn directs visitors’ attention from the man-made environment to the panoramic view of the lake and the paths along the lakeside suited for bikers and pedestrians. Due to the floor-plan configuration and mass-formation design of the building a sheltered inner court ensued to house a music playground and, along the lakeshore, a miniature amphitheatre overlooking a floating stage.
