The Mayor’s Office in Budakeszi has a history of many layers, each of which proves to be rich in consequences when we approach them. The ten years up to the birth of the building may be interpreted as a process of reduction in more than just one sense of the word.

As the greatest invention of its past 35 years, the Czech Technical University (CVUT) has found a home for its architectural faculty in the academic district in Prague. The campus in Dejvice district has been evolved and developed with academic and training functions now after the construction of the Students’ House and that of the National Technical Library.

ECC in the year 2003 accomplished the long-term cultural ambition which earned Graz – along with Vienna – the title of the centre of Austrian contemporary arts primarily with the events of the Styrian Autumn. In 2005 the city was awarded the title the Capital of Design by the UNESCO, owing to which the buildings needed for for education, healthcare and sports also generated contemporary top-achievements.

The fame of Pécs has been more established since 2010 when it was the European Cultural Capital. The motorway from Budapest was completed, along with the House of Sciences, the Kodály Centre and many facelifted squares and public buildings.

At perhaps one of the most exposed sites of Budapest, Ferenciek Square is situated at the mouth of the road leading to Elizabeth Bridge. This is where the twin buildings of Klotild Palace were erected at the turn of the century as the motif of a gate to the city.

In 1990, just when the frontiers between the east and the west were opened, the headmaster of an architects’ school in Montpellier initiated the foundation of a network among French, Central and Eastern European institutions.

Veszprém is referred to as the town of parks and gardens. The formerly ornate parks and gardens for pedestrians are, however, deteriorated from an architectural and botanical aspect. The reconstruction of some of the structures and their development by linking them was realized in 2009-2010 within the framework of a landscaping and garden rehabilitating project sponsored by the EU.

A Magyar Építőművészek Szövetsége 2011-ben alapított díja azon külföldön élő, magyar származású alkotó építészeket kívánja kitüntetni, akik munkásságukkal sokat tettek a magyar építészet és építészek ismertségének s elismertségénekmegteremtése érdekében. 2012-ben a díjat Papp László Amerikában élő magyar építész kapta.

Az építészeti útikönyv műfaja az elmúlt másfél évtizedben Magyarországon is gyökeret vert – emlékezzünk csak a 20. század budapesti és vidéki építészetén végigvezető kötetekre (6Bt Kiadó, 1997 és 2002) vagy a Kortárs magyar építészeti kalauz című könyvre (Vertigo, 2001).

A Müncheni TU Architekturmuseum és a Pinakothek der Moderne ezúttal nem pusztán egy fedél alatt kínálja építészeti és grafikai kiállításait, hanem ütközteti azokat, párbeszédre késztet. A múzeum Pawson, az angol szuperminimalista építész retrospektív kiállítását a reformáció purizmusával 500 éve szembeszálló, kora és a jövő architektúráját erősen meghatározó római barokk-klasszicizmus rajzművészetének tárlatával párosítja.

Gustav Klimt (1862-1918) születésének 150. évfordulóját ünnepli a világ. Az idén Bécs összes nagy múzeumában jelentős kiállítást rendeznek. A MAK-ban az építészethez legközelebb álló pazar látványosságot kínálják a Josef Hoffmann által 1905-11 között épített brüsszeli Stoclet Palota étkezőjében látható életfás Klimt mozaik-fríz megidézésével.
