The Hungarian Association of Architects announced a panel discussion held on October 10th at its headquarters, which is currently undergoing significant renovation, as part of the annual celebration. In his introduction, Csaba Nagy, currently president of MÉSZ, quoted from a letter written by Regina Gonthier, president of the UIA, which outlined the tasks facing architects in the current global environmental and economic crisis.
On World Architecture Day, the Bálint Nagy Award, established on the initiative of members of the Architecture Department of the Széchenyi Academy of Literature and Arts, was presented for the first time this year. The aim of this professional recognition is to draw attention to young architects whose university studies and early career achievements demonstrate high architectural quality, exemplary ethical standards, as well as a commitment to community responsibility. The award was established in memory of Bálint Nagy, Kossuth and Ybl Prize-winning architect, artistic director of the FUGA Budapest Architecture Center for over a decade, and former academician who was committed to perform a dialogue between several generations of Hungarian architects and various branches of the arts and and cultural actors.
