With special attention to details and high standards, Kettőpera („2/a”) Stúdió designed a mansion located in the Buda Hills as a stylish and yet casual and sophisticated structure impressing us as if we were looking at icons of bygone times in black-and-white photos. The atrium itself is no longer a central component, rather a sober and rational trick of development which is also a light-trap because of its orientation. The external shell of the house is a spacious brick crust, the heated rooms inside behave like the nutmeat within the hard-shell. It is also a kind of distancing, saving some unique spatial quality, creating something extra and additional. As a result, the house is simultaneously enclosing itself, and yet reveals its refined transparency. It reflects a tight, well-organized order, but with some gestures it actually steps out of its dull orderliness. The spatial structure is genuinely cntemporary, yet its interiors radiate conservative comfort and familiarity shaped with refined tastes.
