Portus Home Guesthouse was completed at the beginning of summer in Kisdörgicse, which is probably the tiniest village of the region north of Lake Balaton. Its owners started this project with the intention to create a place for recreation where visitors can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the area and the proximity of nature undisturbed. The building was born in a pleasant equilibrium and creates harmony with the traditional streetscapes of the village with its contemporary exterior design which is modern in both physical and spiritual sense: its fresh architectural concept blends the modern components with old archetypal ones. The designer elaborated proportions precisely and has succeeded in keeping the scales of values without enforcing a system by relying upon the geometry itself. The roof features natural thatching integrated with ceramic tiles. The house itself is a complex made up of a dwelling section and a garden edifice: the exteriors and interiors are united with a joint roofing. The supports resembling those of hall structures are made also visible on the facade. The guesthouse has created a new character in this context. It has had the potentials to further interpret the traditional streetscape: it integrates the local vernacular architecture originating from the spirit and atmosphere of the site within a rational framework.
