    The LAKATLAN BUDAPEST FESTIVAL (Vacant Budapest Festival) is a cooperation between the KÉK Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre, Wonderland – Platform for European Architecture and the Vacant Central Europe project. The festival’s goal is to summarize current research on mapping and reusing vacant properties and to explore new methods and solutions. It includes an architecture workshop, the Vacant Central Europe cooperation workshop and international exchange on in-between use, as well as urban walks and architectural visits. The event helps visitors contextualize the debate with the help of an information hub, pop-up library and exhibition.

    The BUPAP walks to visit buildings of interest in the city has recently developed a new feature by providing tours of spaces that are waiting for transformation. Their fate is mapped in downtown recent past and present. (The tour will be in English. Registration is needed, application available soon!)

    Budapest is the last stop of a series of workshops that examined towns of the Central and Eastern European region vacancy, with a particular focus on mapping vacancy and temporary uses. Workshop presentations from Katowice, Brno and Povázska Bystrica. (The event is open and free of charge.)

    Vienna has been dealing since a long time with the issue of recycling empty properties. The Vacancy Festival will host the IG Kultur Wien representatives who will speak about the challenges of the Austrian capital’s experiments. (The event is open and free of charge.)
